Why Montauk?

Variety Makes for Year-round Fishing

Simply put, Montauk is the best place to fish on the East Coast. A wide variety of fish are available during different months of the year, allowing year-round opportunities for fishing.

The migration patterns of all these different types of fish are the main reason Montauk is number one. Montauk gets all the northern species including cod, whiting, pollock, blackfish, hake, winter flounder, blueback herring, monkfish, and all the southern species such as striped bass, bluefish, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, longfin tuna, mako shark, thresher shark, bonito, dolphin, black sea bass, porgies, fluke, tilefish and spiny dogfish.

Check the NYS Marine, Finfish and Crustacean Regulations for what is in season and which fish may be caught.
